Favorite Camp Activities
Session I
June 10–July 3 (no camp July 4)
Session II
July 7–August 1
Recreational Swim: in our water park! Hot summer days
are very cool when getting sprayed with water while floating around
in the JCC’s lazy river, or sliding down one of our two
slides into a plunge pool, or splashing and playing in our zero
depth pool (for our youngest campers) or in our competition pool
(for our older campers). JCC campers are so lucky to have their
very own water park! The JCC
has two indoor swimming pools for lessons and free swim during
inclement weather.
Group Sports: kickball, softball, soccer, tug-of-war,
flag football, volleyball, ga ga, tag and more.
Art: sure, it gets a little messy sometimes, but we love
to create with paint, glue, glitter, sticks, colored paper, hot
loops, iron beads, landyards and more!
Games: cup game, lummi sticks, mummy game, find-the-leader… just
to name a few.
Singing & Music: we fill our days with song
everyday – we belt out favorite camp songs (some are our
very own songs) to the rhythm of a guitar and dance to Israeli
folk music. Sometimes we even create our own dances!
Camp Cook-outs: includes making our very own “camper
stew,” roasting marshmallows, and making our own pita bread.
Special Theme Days: Israeli Day, Yom Sport (Day of Sports),
themed overnights and late nights, annual counselor basketball
game.
Nature Exploration: The woods behind the JCC are alive
with all sorts of plants, birds and insects. We take time each
week to explore the environment around us.
Israeli/Jewish Culture: We teach our campers about the
Jewish values of respect for all, team playing and tikkun
olam, repairing our world with community service. We share
the joy and beauty of Jewish and Israeli culture with our campers
through observance of some traditions (blessings before meals
and Shabbat celebrations on Friday afternoons), and through the
daily interaction with our Israeli counselors (shlichim).
The JCC’s shlichim add a unique and enriching cultural
component for all of our campers. Meet our shlichim and learn more about this exchange
program – click here
Weekly Shabbat Celebrations: The entire camp gathers
together for our weekly festive celebration of Shabbat (the Sabbath).
We sing, dance, light candles and say the traditional blessings
over the wine and bread. These celebrations are a time of joy,
togetherness and song – there is no better way to end a
terrific week at camp.
Lip Sync! Our annual all-camp show at the Pike Performing
Arts Center is nothing short of a riot. Campers take to the stage
and bring familiar tunes to life with their crazy costumes and
antics. This is every campers’ favorite night! Mark your calendar for Thursday, July 5 at 7 pm!
Red Cross Certified Swim Instruction: For all levels. The JCC’s swim programs have taught thousands of children
how to swim over our decades-long year history. Whether this is
your child’s first toe in the water, or you have sent an
experienced swimmer to camp, your child will learn swimming and
water safety skills to last a lifetime.
